Hardcore Porn in the Great State of Alabama

XXX

Elitist wine sippers in Alabama are short one option thanks to witless hypocrits at The Alabama Beverage Control Board. Cycles Gladiator, sold since 2006, has had it’s sales haulted immediately due to horrific imagery aimed toward our booze guzzling youths.

The highly inflamitory label is based on a 19th century Parisian advert for Gladiator bicycles by French painter G. Massias and features “a naked nymph with flowing blonde hair flying across the night sky clutching the handlebars of a winged bicycle”.

According title 20 in the Alabama code:

‘No advertisement may include any illustration(s) of any person(s) posed in an immodest or sensuous manner’

To which Hahn Family Wines President Bill Leigon retorted:

‘To say that this wine label is pornographic is ridiculous. It’s a beautiful piece of art that captures the grace and uninhibited beauty of our hillside vineyards,’ he said.

While his anwer is a little too half baked for my worldly sensibilities, I simply ask Alabama to hold the same standards to all products sold in the state and most importantly avoid double standards.

That means being fair and disposing of the most pornographic, dispicable, vile, and disturbing logo of the last 55 years. Yep. That filthy Coppertone chick.
